Dry Needling Technique
What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a treatment used to restore proper function to abnormally behaving muscles. The doctor places very thin solid needles into the muscle to elicit a muscle twitch response. This releases muscle tension, toxic chemicals, or trigger points, restoring the muscle function and decreasing pain.
The effects of dry needling are typically fast and long lasting. It short-circuits the vicious pain cycle in a very direct way that other methods cannot accomplish. Dry needling penetrates deep into the muscle, and so requires a physicians expert knowledge in the neuromusculoskeletal system.
